Revolutionizing Remote Drilling: Foran Mining's Tech-Driven Exploration Success (2025)

Foran's Tech Revolution: Unlocking Remote Drilling Success

Foran Mining, a Canadian company listed on the TSX and US-OTCQX, is revolutionizing exploration at McIlvenna Bay, a promising copper, zinc, and precious metals project. In the winter of 2025, they embarked on an ambitious drilling campaign, completing over 30,000 meters in a complex logistical setup, targeting high-potential zones like Tesla and Bridge.

The challenge: making swift geological decisions based on precise data. To address this, Foran introduced the on-site geochemical scanning tool Scan by Veracio (formerly TruScan). This innovation aimed to bridge the gap between drilling and geochemical analysis, traditionally a lengthy process involving external labs.

By integrating Scan, Foran significantly reduced the delay between drilling and analysis, a crucial factor in remote exploration. Johan Krebs, Foran's principal orebody knowledge geologist, explained, "Truscan data empowers us to make informed decisions on drilling, targeting, and sampling. It provides a reliable preview of lab results, speeding up reporting and decision-making, ultimately reducing project costs."

The impact was transformative. The technical team could now make crucial field decisions, such as extending or closing drill holes, optimizing sample selection for lab analysis, and identifying mineralized intervals that weren't visible before. This was achieved without expanding the geological team, resulting in improved work quality and overall campaign efficiency.

A remarkable discovery was a 52.6-meter intersection with an average grade of 2.54% copper equivalent in the Tesla zone, including sections reaching 4.65%. This was the highest grade-thickness recorded in the project, analyzed even before full geological logging using Scan data.

Veracio praised the collaboration, stating, "Working with Foran Mining has validated Scan's impact. Real-time geochemical data delivery enables faster, more informed decisions, maximizing the value of every meter drilled."

The McIlvenna Bay experience highlights a broader shift in mining exploration. As pressure mounts to develop strategic projects efficiently and with reduced uncertainty, immediate on-site data availability becomes crucial for operational optimization and mitigating early-stage development risks.
