Zii Jia's Season Comes to a Close: A Setback for the Rising Star
The badminton world witnessed a significant setback for one of its rising stars as Zii Jia's season officially came to an abrupt end. The talented Malaysian shuttler, ranked 63rd in the world, had to withdraw from the prestigious Syed Modi India International tournament, which commenced on November 25th in Lucknow. This decision was made due to a persistent back injury that has been plaguing him since September.
Zii Jia's recent performance at the China Masters in September highlighted the challenges he faced. During the tournament, he was forced to retire in the first round against Lin Chun-yi from Taiwan after his back injury worsened. This withdrawal from the India International tournament further confirms that Zii Jia will not be able to compete again this year, leaving fans and fellow players alike disappointed.
Additionally, the tournament witnessed the withdrawal of other notable players, including Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin, Viktor Axelsen from Denmark, and the mixed doubles pairs of Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin and Jimmy Wong-Lai Pei Jing. These withdrawals have undoubtedly created a void in the tournament, as these players are highly regarded in the badminton community.
