Kim Kardashian's Acting Venture: A Critical Reception (2025)

Ever wonder what it feels like to pour your heart and soul into something, only to have it potentially fall flat? That's the exact fear Kim Kardashian grappled with as she wrapped up filming for the scripted series, All's Fair.

In a recent episode of Hulu's The Kardashians, titled “Tragedy in Reality TV,” cameras captured Kim's final day on set with the show, which also starred the likes of Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Teyana Taylor. The pressure was on, and the stakes felt high.

Sitting in her trailer, Kim voiced her anxieties: "Here’s the thing [with] these shows. It is not guaranteed that it’s going to be a hit, so you put your heart and soul and your time into something, and what if it doesn’t hit? Then what was this for?” She added, “Obviously, everything in life is you have to take risks to get there. But I’ve taken all the risks. I’ve made it.”

But here's where it gets controversial... Kim's concerns, unfortunately, proved to be somewhat prophetic. All's Fair premiered to a less-than-stellar reception, earning a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Ouch! Critics were not kind, to say the least. (Though, it's worth noting that Decider, did offer a positive review, giving the series a resounding "STREAM IT.")

However, Kim seems to be taking the criticism in stride. In a clever move, she posted a slideshow on Instagram featuring positive fan reviews, even including a screenshot of that infamous 0% rating, with the caption, “Have you tuned in to the most critically acclaimed show of the year!?!?”

Kim also shared her perspective on the differences between scripted acting and reality TV. She noted that there's a higher level of scrutiny in scripted roles, explaining, “There’s definitely a judging meter on, ‘You can act,’ or, ‘You are a bad actress.’” In reality TV, she explained, you're simply living your life, but in scripted shows, there is a meter to measure your acting skills. She also added, “To get people to like a character is probably easier than getting people to like you for who you are. You’re so excited that your life is finally together and calm, but the viewer’s pissed because it’s finally together and calm.”

New episodes of The Kardashians are released every Thursday on Hulu.

What do you think? Do you agree with Kim's take on the different types of shows? Do you think the critics were too harsh on All's Fair? Share your thoughts in the comments!
