It’s with a heavy heart that we share the news of Elaine Russell’s (née King) passing—a loss that leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. But here’s where it gets emotional: Elaine’s journey, though marked by a brief illness, was defined by the love and warmth she shared with her family and friends. Surrounded by her devoted loved ones, she peacefully passed away at Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan, Meath, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength.
Elaine is predeceased by her beloved husband, Tommy, and her parents, Paddy and Moira—a reminder of the enduring bonds that transcend time. And this is the part that truly tugs at the heartstrings: She will be deeply missed by her son Keith, daughter-in-law June, and her cherished grandchildren Thomas, Caitlin, and Eoin. Her absence will also be felt by her siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and an extended circle of relatives and friends who were fortunate to have her in their lives.
But here’s where it gets controversial: In a world that often rushes through goodbyes, Elaine’s family invites us to pause and reflect on the importance of honoring a life well-lived. Is it enough to simply remember, or should we strive to carry forward the values and love she embodied? A thought-provoking question for us all.
Elaine’s repose will take place at St. Joseph’s Chapel of Rest in Old Johnstown (C15 C425) on Monday, 17th November, from 3pm to 6pm. The following day, her Funeral Mass will be held at The Church of the Nativity of Our Lady in Johnstown (C15 H320) at 11am, followed by burial in Old Kilcarn Cemetery. And this is the part most people miss: In respecting the family’s privacy, the house will remain private during this time.
As we bid farewell to Elaine, let’s not just mourn her passing but celebrate the love she shared and the memories she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace. What’s your take on how we honor the lives of those we’ve lost? Share your thoughts in the comments—let’s keep the conversation going.
